The Alfords from High Bickington, Devon are connected to my line through the marriage of Joan Alford to Bazaleel Richards on 1 June 1791. Joan’s parents were John Alford and Mary Hern. I have been able to trace the Alford line back to the Roborough area, near Torrington and a slightly unusual name that keeps cropping up is Lewis Alford.
