At Salem Church the Ninety-fifth Pennsylvania Regiment,
coming upon the enemy posted in a wood, concealed from sight, an immediate
engagement followed at close quarters. The One Hundred and Nineteenth,
posted on the left of the road, were confronted by a largely superior
force, but gallantly maintained its position, although it suffered
severely, losing out of four hundred and thirty-two men twelve killed and

when the TMI clashed with a group of 40 burghers from Kritzinger's
